Race Condition is a futuristic racing / combat game set in a gritty science fiction universe where the player pilots a fast, low-flying racer through a series of treacherous tracks against a host of devious enemies.

As an ex-military combat pilot convicted of a crime he did not commit, the player chooses to enter The Races, a form of fierce gladiatorial combat in which prisoners can win their freedom while providing entertainment for the masses.

Instituted decades ago as a way to pay for the skyrocketing costs of warehousing dangerous prisoners, The Races have become a wildly popular entertainment event.  Some hardened criminals have risen to the pinnacle of popular admiration by defeating their foes in this violent spectacle.  Countless others have suffered their final defeat in these treacherous high-speed battles.

The player must compete against a host of enemies, master a variety of weapons and skillfully pilot his vehicle through 16 tracks to survive the races and win his freedom.

Race Condition focuses on a well-defined set of game play principles to keep the game fun and engaging:

High-speed, low-flying action
The lower you fly, the faster you go.  This simple mechanism is a key to keeping the action intense and keeping the player engaged.  Flying low brings the player into contact with more obstacles and threats, but is required for victory.  As the player’s skill improves, he will be able to “push the envelope” and fly lower and faster while navigating the track and blasting his enemies.  This “lower is faster” system sets Race Condition apart from any previous racing game by intensifying the action and increasing the danger factor.

Simple and Effective Combat
Race Condition provides the player with an escalating series of weapons through a simple power-up system.  Two trigger controls are all that’s required to learn the weapons systems, but lots of experience is needed to master them!  Most race games use artificial techniques to handicap the leader.  In Race Condition, the combat system naturally makes the races more intense by allowing players to fire at the leader, thereby keeping the racers in closer proximity.

Treacherous Tracks with Interactive Elements
The tracks in Race Condition are an important part of the racing experience.  Not only do they provide the player with obstacles and challenges, but they can be used to tactical advantage.  For example, ramming an enemy into a canyon wall can cause him to spin out of control.  Courses are modified during play with scorch marks, battle damage and other byproducts of the battle.  Additionally, courses may contain “hostile” elements positioned to thwart the player’s flight through the track.

Engaging Character-Driven Game Progression
Race Condition contains a host of enemy characters, each with unique personality traits.  Some may concentrate on racing, while others prefer combat.  Some can even hold a grudge against the payer that may continue into future races.  By learning how certain enemies will respond, the player will be better able to master the game and secure victory.
